“Ah, there you are!” The Doctor cried out as Captain Janeway entered sickbay. “I’ve been waiting an hour. What took you so long?”
“Excuse me?” Being the captain of a starship had its many advantages, one of which was not having to answer to anyone for being late, especially the EMH. “What can I do for you, Doctor?” she asked, trying to calm the man.
“I’ve discovered something interesting regarding Seven of Nine.” Peaked with curiosity, Janeway approached and listened carefully. “I have strong evidence to believe she’s a lesbian.”
Janeway desperately tried to smother the smile that wanted to pass over her lips. “A lesbian, huh? What gives you that idea?”
Having just returned from an away mission last night with Seven and Harry in which his program was downloaded into Seven’s body in order to avoid decompilation, he was still behaving strangely. Just this morning he sat in the messhall and jealously watched as people ate their breakfasts.
“Well, while I was in her body I got a massage from one of the female Lokirrim, or rather she got a massage, I sensed unusual neural activity during the process. Then again when I hailed you, or rather she hailed you, there were definite physiological signs her body gave when I talked to you, or rather she talked to you. It’s very confusing. Captain, those signs are only present during periods of sexual arousal. I could be mistaken, but I don’t think I am. I believe I sensed that she…loved you. I know for a fact she has definitely responded this same way to being in your presence in the past as well but I dismissed it at the time because it didn’t occur to me she might be a les…” he trailed off, embarrassed.
“And have you brought this to her attention yet?”
The Doctor blushed. “Of course not. That’s why I came to you. I thought that since you’re a woman and you’ve been spending so much time together that maybe you could guide her through this highly sensitive time.”
Janeway put on her most serious face, the one she used when she jokingly reprimanded Tom for something foolish he did, and eased The Doctor’s nerves. “Don’t worry, Doctor. I’ll handle everything.” She patted him on the shoulder and left, smirking.

An hour before their duty shifts ended, Janeway asked Seven to join her in the ready room. It was unusual that she would discuss something this personal while still on duty, but due to The Doctor’s persistent hailing throughout the day she had no choice. Given their closeness, she felt as if she could talk to Seven about anything, despite the awkwardness of the situation, and this was no exception.
Sitting on the sofa sipping coffee and looking out the window over her shoulder, she waited for Seven to arrive. Within a minute, the door chirped and Seven entered.
“Hello, Seven.” Janeway put down the coffee and stood up to talk with approaching the young woman who always declined invitations to sit down. “How are you?”
“I am fine. Thank you.”
“Good. I’ll cut to the chase. I’ve been talking with The Doctor today and he has some interesting news to report regarding your captivity on the Lokirrim ship.”
Seven cocked her brow, causing light to reflect off her ocular implant in the process. “Explain.”
“Well, far be it from me to speculate about such things, but he believes you may be a lesbian.” Janeway waited for Seven to respond, but she never did. “He also believes that you love me. Is this true?” Janeway smirked.
Seven smirked in return and stepped closer. “Captain, I believe I made my feelings known last night in your bed.”
Janeway smiled wide as she recalled the incident fondly. “I thought so. I was just following up on The Doctor’s speculation. Far be it from me to ignore the man. You know how easily his ego is bruised.” She reached up and pulled Seven’s head down to meet hers, briefly kissing her as only lovers do. “When do you think we should tell him?”
“That we’ve engaged in sexual activity thirty six times in twenty three days?” Seven grinned.
“You know what I mean,” Janeway said, teasingly smacking Seven’s behind. “That we’re involved. I believe he can be trusted until we make it public.”
“I will discuss it with him before our scheduled Holodeck time. I have planned to surprise him with a light snack since he is fond of culinary delights now.”
“Alright. I’ll see you later.” Janeway watched as Seven turned and left. She loved when Seven wore the blue biosuit. Hell, she loved when Seven wore the plum biosuit. She loved the way Seven walked. She loved the way Seven thought. She loved their interactions. She loved just about everything Seven did. She loved...Seven.
